Feeding a Holy Hunger in El Salvador
April 29, 2025
Prayer Points
- Pray for spiritual hunger – That hearts across El Salvador will develop a deep craving for God’s Word.
- Pray for consistent access – That technology and media will continue to make Bible teaching easily accessible.
- Pray for transformation – That lives will be changed through the daily study of Scripture.
Some people can’t start their day without coffee. Others need a jog, a podcast, or a few quiet moments. But imagine waking up each morning with a craving—not for caffeine or routine—but for God’s Word. That’s the experience one listener in El Salvador describes as a “blessed addiction.” His story challenges us to reflect on what we crave and how that craving shapes our lives.
El Salvador is a vibrant country with a complex spiritual climate where many people are hungry for truth. The body of Christ is active, but biblical literacy can be low and reliable Bible teaching isn’t always accessible. That’s why THRU the BIBLE is so valuable. It feeds hungry souls and creates a habit of seeking God daily. And as we’ll see from today’s listener testimony, some can’t get enough.
“Hello! I am writing from San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador. I have listened to THRU the BIBLE since 2005. I discovered the program by pure 'chance' (God gave it to me) when I first heard it on the radio at 5 AM. I used to wake up early just to listen to it or when I had to take my wife to work at the hospital. Years later, I found the mobile application. I downloaded it without hesitation and have been able to listen to the Bible study every day when I drive to my work. I do ‘marathons’ listening to the programs that I missed. I cannot put into words how grateful I am to God for this beautiful program. It has become a blessed addiction for me.”
Praise God for this listener whose deep love for Scripture overflows into his daily life. His passion reminds us that God's Word is not only nourishment but a source of joy. It’s no surprise that he sees it as a lifeline.
May his “blessed addiction” challenge us today. Is the Word of God our first thought in the morning, our comfort in the commute, and our joy in quiet moments? Let’s pray for our friends in El Salvador to continue growing in their love for the Bible. And, let’s ask the Lord to grow that same hunger in us.
