Esther’s Story: “I Called the Prayer Line … and Everything Changed”

Prayer Points

• Pray for deliverance – That those bound by addiction or false worship will experience freedom through Jesus Christ.
• Pray for transformation – That entire households will be changed as they respond to the gospel.
• Pray for perseverance – That new believers will continue growing in faith through God’s Word.

When despair becomes a daily companion, where do we turn? For many in India, hardship is often met with silence, isolation, or spiritual confusion. But through the power of God’s Word, lives are being transformed and renewed.

Today we reflect on the hope that comes through Jesus Christ. We see this hope in today’s story from Esther, a listener to the Tamil program in southern India.

She writes:

“I’m Esther and I’m 55 years old. For the past several months, I’ve been watching the TTB-Tamil program and they have been such a blessing to me. I come from a background rooted in false worship. I was known for my devotion to that faith, even walking barefoot through fire in an attempt to show my spiritual zeal. But no matter how fervent I was, I could never find peace."

“My heart was heavy with grief. My husband had fallen into alcoholism, and one of my sons was addicted to drugs. In my desperation, I began searching for answers in all kinds of places of worship, hoping something would bring relief. Then I came across the TTB program. From the very first day, the teaching of God’s Word brought me comfort and clarity that I had never experienced before."

“I kept watching and soon called the prayer line. The team prayed with me and shared the gospel, explaining how Jesus breaks the chains of sin and sets people free. By God’s grace, I surrendered my life to Christ. Since that day, the Lord has done amazing things in my family. My son has been delivered from his addiction, and my husband is now free from alcoholism. I’ve completely renounced my former religious practices. I now attend a local church and am joyfully following Jesus.”
