Pray for the poor in Malawi

November 06, 2023

He raises the poor from the dustand lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory. -1 Samuel 2:8

Famous for its friendly people and welcoming culture, it’s easy to see why Malawi is called “the warm heart of Africa.” However, beyond their cheerful smiles and easygoing personalities, more than two-thirds of Malawians live in extreme poverty and face some of the world’s highest rates of malaria, yellow fever, and AIDS.

In the middle of this heartache, a listener named Dyman finds God’s Word helps. Here’s his story.

“Your program brings refreshment. Whatever happens in the day, we can sit and reflect on the goodness of God. When we are weary, this lifts us; when we are sad, it comforts us. There are some listeners who do not have access to a physical church, but I believe that once they tune in on their radios, they are able to experience God, repent, and have a turn of heart. Then they too experience His peace. Thank you for the hope you bring and the steady voice of kindness when life seems harsh.”

Together let’s thank the Lord for His Word and pray 1 Samuel 2:8 for our brothers and sisters in Malawi.

Lord, we’re grateful for the great price Jesus paid to bring us salvation. He became poor so we might be made rich. How thankful we are for Your unspeakable gift. Grow our hearts to reflect Your love to others in need. As they hear Your Word, may they eagerly await the day when you raise them from the dust and set them among princes. In the precious name of Jesus, amen.
