Praying James 1:23-24 in Burkina Faso

May 31, 2023

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. -James 1:23-24

“When I hear your messages, God speaks to me.”

That’s the message we recently heard from a listener in Burkina Faso. He continues:

“THRU the BIBLE has taught me that the Word of God is not a rear-view mirror, but a mirror which gives us the reflection of our own image. It persuades me to act in my life, move on, be healed inside, I need to let the Word judge me and my thoughts. Thank you for these important lessons.”

What a great reminder. Today let’s take a minute to pray James 1:23-24 for all those who hear God’s Word in Burkina Faso as well as in our own lives, too.

Father as we take time to study Your Word, our desire is to not only read Your words but to reflect on them, wrestle with them, and to invite them to capture our hearts. Help us to apply what we learn every day. Thank You for being the living Word and for giving us the Holy Spirit to guide us throughout the day. In Jesus’ powerful name, amen.

God’s providence: That’s what we’re studying in the book of Esther, and that’s what we’re praying for in the lives of His people in Senegal. Join us tomorrow as our journey through western Africa continues.
