Encouragement from Indonesia

January 08, 2024

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. -1 Peter 1:3-5

More than…

  • 275 million people
  • 17,500 islands and islets
  • 1,000 ethnic groups
  • 700 native languages

With those numbers, it’s easy to see why reaching Indonesia with the Good News is a monumental task.

Welcome, prayer team. Today as we travel through southeastern Asia we stop in Indonesia, specifically to pray for the Sundanese, the largest unreached people group on the island of Java.

Predominately Muslim (mixed with traditional beliefs and animism), more than 38 million Sunda live on the island in an area known as “Sunda Land.”

However, as God’s Word goes out on THRU the BIBLE in the language of Sundanese, more and more listeners are hopping aboard the Bible Bus with us each day. Be encouraged by this letter from Pasen:

“From the words of God I receive through this program, I am strengthened. As a new believer, I often feel worried and afraid, but through God’s words I am reminded to rely on God and to continue to believe. Please pray for me as I live among those who do not look favorably on Christianity.”

While we praise God for Pasen and all those in southeastern Asia who choose the living hope found in our Savior, Jesus Christ, here are a few ways to intercede for the Sundanese:

    • Pray THRU the BIBLE in Sundanese is heard in every corner of “Sunda Land,” shining light onto the darkness of Islam and other religious beliefs and practices.
    • Ask God to give Sundanese believers and church planters boldness in proclaiming the gospel and discipling others.
    • Pray for perseverance and strength for Sundanese who are being persecuted for their faith in Jesus.

A medical student hears Acts 4:12 and is changed. Hear his story tomorrow as we travel on our knees through middle Africa.
