In sharing our weakness, He becomes strong
February 23, 2024
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” -2 Corinthians 12:9-10
No one likes to be injured or sick. For many of us, a difficult diagnosis can derail and debilitate us. Libby in North Carolina experienced this recently. Here’s her story.
“Five months ago, I became temporarily unable to get out and about very much. Waiting for hip replacement surgery, I began to be depressed as I was limited in my social and physical activities.
“Determined not to waste six months in fear and loneliness before my surgery, I randomly clicked on a link for THRU the BIBLE and began the journey. I’d tried reading the Bible before, but without Dr. McGee’s take on it, I never got anywhere. I love the clarity, inspiration, and applicability I receive from his talks, and Steve and Gregg’s enthusiasm and conviction sparks my own. Now my husband is on the Bible Bus, too. We share our insights and hope with each other, and even found a church that lights the Spirit in us. We can both hardly believe it, as he is Jewish and I was discouraged from Christianity many years ago.
“And then there was the letter several weeks ago, I think from a Ugandan woman, which I wrote down and re-read as I mentally and spiritually prepare for surgery this Wednesday. She spoke my heart with these words:
‘God is with me and I am going to be alright. I am now learning to trust God in all situations. He is my strength, my hope, my joy, my protector, my Savior, my friend, and so much more.’
“It all brings tears to my eyes. I send my love and gratitude to this woman and all of you on the Bible Bus.”
Second Corinthians 12:9-10 tells us that when we are weak, God is strong. So today for all those on the Bible Bus who find themselves sick, injured, or weak from difficult situations, ask Him to calm our fears and give us His strength to share His grace and truth with others. Then let’s watch how He uses our weakness for His glory.
