Learning to praise God in all circumstances
April 15, 2024
In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -1 Thessalonians 5:18
Welcome to South Asia. As we begin our adventure in prayer this week, Rajesh, a listener in Uttar Pradesh, asks for our prayers. Here’s his story:
“There was a period in my life when I battled alcohol addiction and various drugs, paying little heed to my family or friends. Being a driver, I indulged in a worldly lifestyle. Tragedy struck when I lost my wife two years ago, and my life spiraled into a dismal state. My family, friends, son, and daughter distanced themselves from me, leaving me feeling utterly alone and disheartened.
“Amidst this despair, I stumbled upon your program. Watching it brought a sense of peace to my troubled mind. I reached out and found encouragement and support from your team. I'm immensely grateful for the transformative impact your beautiful program has had on my life. It became a catalyst for change, leading me to renounce my destructive habits.
“I now dedicate my time to prayer and studying the Bible. In my isolated state, your program and your team have become like family to me. I rely on our conversations and your prayers, finding solace in your kindness. Although I am challenged by paralysis and the limitation of one hand, I am actively seeking employment to sustain myself. I see this as a divine experience that has drawn me closer to the Lord and deepened my understanding of His Word. I humbly ask for your continued prayers as I navigate through this transitional phase, seeking employment, and furthering my spiritual growth. I express my gratitude to God and to your program and team for being an instrumental part of my journey. I praise Him for all the changes and challenges in my life.”
What a great reminder that He is in control. Today as we pray for Rajesh, let’s praise God for His promise to work for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
Thank You, God, for who You are and all You have done for us. We praise You when life is hard. We praise You when life is happy. We choose to thank You in all that’s in-between. You alone deserve the glory. Help Rajesh and each of us to trust that You have our best intentions at heart and continue to praise You even when we are uncertain of the outcomes in our circumstances. In Jesus’ name, amen.
