Pray for fellow team members

“I was reluctant to write, simply because my story may not be as interesting or exciting as some. You have no doubt heard countless stories just like mine from other listeners.”

That’s the email we received from a fellow listener named Darren, and frankly the story we hear from quite a few others on the Bible Bus. Gratefully, he continued:

“As a child (45-50 years ago), I remember hearing Dr. McGee on the radio as my dad listened to the daily broadcast in his study. Like many, I remember his southern drawl and my dad’s enjoyment (and often laughter).

“I was saved at age seven and was called by God into fulltime Christian service at age 13. I attended Bible college in 1986, married my wife in 1993, and have been working in fulltime Christian service since. I’m now a database administrator for a large church, college, and school system.

“However, as a 55-year-old man, my personal Bible study had grown stagnant. Truth be told, I was only reading God’s Word out of duty. I was lucky to read much more than a few verses each day.

“I’d start out with good intentions when they’d pass out the Bible schedule at church in January, but I would always stop reading somewhere in Exodus or Leviticus. Other than that, church was the only time my Bible was opened.

“For entertainment, I listened to the ‘Left Behind’ series on Audible and started developing an interest in prophecy. This led me to start studying prophecy in the Bible, but I needed help understanding it. Then I found Dr. McGee and your app.

“After my prophecy study, I started studying Genesis. One day I thought, ‘Why not go through all of the messages rather than just when needed?’ That’s when I boarded the Bible Bus.

“In the beginning I would skip through Steve and Gregg (sorry, guys) so I could get to Dr. McGee, but one day I got distracted and just let it play. I had no idea of the global outreach, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I enjoy hearing the letters and testimonies as people share how Thru the Bible is growing and reaching the world with God’s Word. Gregg and Steve are always a joy to listen to, and I enjoy hearing them talk about the ministry and poke fun at each other every now and then. I joined the World Prayer Team, and my wife also listens while she works as a professional cleaner. We spend a good bit of our time around the breakfast table talking about what we are studying in the Bible and what we have learned through listening to Dr. McGee.

“I listen on the app in the evenings for Bible study (I’m in Romans now) and other books of the Bible on Saturday while working my second job driving a truck.

“I also listen through the app weekdays while on my morning run. Last month, I began giving monthly to help put some fuel in the tank, and today I received some Bible Bus Passes in the mail to share the ministry with others.

“My wife has told many of her clients about the broadcast, and we both told a man at the coffee shop we frequent about the app. We shared the link to the App Store, and he installed it on his iPhone. He told us the other day that he’s been ‘riding the bus in Genesis.’ This study has revolutionized my Bible study, as well as my walk with God. Thanks again. I pray for Thru the Bible every day.
