Sin loses power when we follow God
May 10, 2024
“I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.” -John 12:46
“My understanding of God’s love has grown since I was saved. He lifted me up out of some impossible places and showed me that He truly does not cast anyone out,” shares James, a fellow Bible Bus passenger, as we travel on our knees to South Carolina. Here’s more of his incredible story:
“I wanted to let you all know how much Thru the Bible and the World Prayer Team mean to me.
“Reading the testimonies encourages and shows me some of the amazing ways that God works. I heard Dr. McGee when I was younger, but much of it did not stick. I accepted Christ in my youth, but I went many years without a solid foundation in Jesus. Early on pornography controlled my life, and failure after failure pushed me into depression and self-destructive thoughts.
“God’s love reaches so far down, and I’m learning it goes deeper still. Over time, He has helped me walk with Him instead of trusting in my abilities so that sin loses its power. He gave me a sound mind when before I was consumed by lust, fear, and pride.
“I pray along with the World Prayer Team that people will take that one step of faith towards Jesus, because no matter what sin overpowers them, there is amazing freedom through the Lord. He does what you really thought was absolutely impossible. Thank you for taking the whole Word to the whole world. No matter how dark it seems, darkness cannot snuff out His light.”
Do you know someone who needs that reminder today? Share this story and invite them to join us in God’s Word. (Thanks for writing, James!) As THRU the BIBLE goes out today, let’s pray John 12:46 for all those who hop aboard the Bible Bus with us:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You sent Jesus to be the Light of the world, to enlighten our hearts and enrich our souls. We pray You open our eyes and guide us into the way of truth. May the light of Your love continue to shine brightly in our hearts and conquer any sin we entertain. Direct us, by Your Spirit, to walk and abide in the Light of life, our Savior, Jesus Christ. We ask this in His powerful name, amen.
