When Churches Are Far, God’s Word is Near: A Story of Spiritual Growth in India

India is a land of rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and deep spiritual hunger. In the northern hills of Himachal Pradesh, in the Bilaspur district, one group of people are hearing the name of Jesus in their heart language—Bilaspuri. Spoken by more than 295,000 people, Bilaspuri is one of the many regional languages through which God’s Word is bringing hope to communities often overlooked and underserved. 

With the written Bilaspuri Bible not yet fully translated, Bilaspuri speakers find encouragement through the audio Bible and audio resources. “I have known Christ for many years, but there is no church in our area and we had to travel far to attend fellowship. Last year, I had the opportunity to attend the launch of the Bilaspuri language program and heard the Bible study through a media player. My family and I began listening to this study, and it felt as though a pastor was personally teaching us the Bible. The teachings are so powerful and compelling that we are growing in the knowledge of Christ every day. I am confident that, in the days ahead, we will have a great fellowship of believers here. Now we listen to the audio programs together, sharing and praying for one another. Some members of our group cannot read or write, so this audio Bible study has been especially helpful for them. We are truly thankful to God for making it possible for us to learn and understand His Word effectively.”

What a powerful testimony of God’s provision and faithfulness! Even in a remote place, this listener has found God and His Word.
