On a recent episode of Faith Talk Atlanta, host Rick Probst welcomed Steve Shwetz, Chairman of the Board for THRU the BIBLE, to discuss the ongoing legacy of Dr. J. Vernon
McGee’s ministry. For 57 years, THRU the BIBLE has aired Dr. McGee's systematic five-year Bible study, taking listeners through the entire Word of God. Steve shared how Dr. McGee’s humble approach to teaching captured hearts worldwide.
McGee’s vision for global outreach—initially starting in just one language, Spanish—has now expanded to 250 languages, touching millions of lives. The ministry, which operates both on terrestrial radio and digital platforms,
has a growing audience, including truckers, doctors, prisoners, and homeschooling families. The format has also evolved, allowing listeners to binge-listen to programs via podcasts, showing how THRU the BIBLE has adapted to modern technology while staying true
to its core mission.
Steve emphasized that the secret to the ministry’s continued success is its focus on spreading God’s Word globally. Testimonies continue to pour in from listeners of all backgrounds, many of whom have come to
faith in Christ through the program.
Dr. McGee’s legacy, once thought to have a limited lifespan, has been a clear testament to God’s provision and guidance. Even now, decades after his passing, THRU the BIBLE continues to grow, fueled by listeners’ passion for
Scripture and their desire to share the message with others.
