Praying Psalm 23 in Hong Kong
August 22, 2023
“Beaten, battered, baffled, and bludgeoned.” That’s how Dr. J. Vernon McGee described King David as he sat down to write Psalm 23. (If you haven’t already hopped aboard the Bible Bus today, you can listen here.) That’s also how a listener in Hong Kong felt before she came to study God’s Word with us. Here’s her story:
“I thank God for His grace and thank you teachers for your hard work. The studies over these few years have all been enlightening. When I look back now, it was truly a road of grace. God took me from the lowest point of my life and cared for me as His own. He was a tender shepherd when I was a very lost sheep. On this day that marks my anniversary with you, I’d like to share with you a little as a symbol of His grace upon me. Please use this gift to reach others who need to hear from Him. May God continue to bless the journey ahead!”
Today let’s thank God for His tender care for each of us, using Psalm 23 as our guide:
Father, You are our Good Shepherd. You give us everything we need and more. Even the most difficult times and places in life are bearable because You give us Your peace. By Your grace help us to speak of our weakness and boast of Your strength. Help us to follow You in all that we do. Even when it’s dark and we’re tempted to be afraid, thank You for Your guiding presence that calms and comforts us. Until the day You call us home, we will rest in Your love and trust in Your grace. In the glorious and powerful name of Jesus we pray, amen.
We’re praying our way through China tomorrow. Grab your Bible and we’ll see you there.
