Praying where America’s day begins

May 31, 2024

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” -John 8:31-32

What area proudly claims itself as the place “Where America’s Day Begins?” If you guessed Guam, you’re right. This gorgeous island in Micronesia has been a territory of the United States since 1898, and in 1950, Guamanians officially became U.S. citizens.

While there are dozens of Micronesian churches in Guam, many are ritualistic and reaching isolated villages (who cling to tribal cultures) presents a challenge to the gospel. Today pray for the many Guamanians who are lost to rituals, traditions, and tribal practices. Pray they hear God’s Word, come to know and love it, and are set free from the dark practices and deception that hold them captive. Pray they grow as Jesus’ disciples—a good prayer request for all of us.

We’ve got a lot to pray about next week in northern Europe. Join us on Monday in Finland.
