Praying for drug users

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. -1 Corinthians 10:13
“I have a lot of drug problems and I have caused my mother a lot of harm. I want to change my life but lack strength. Thank you for the messages I hear with some friends, as we don’t attend any church.”
That’s the letter we received from a listener in Africa, but it could be the story of someone from nearly any country in the world. Addiction affects the whole family, and nearly 295 million people worldwide use illegal drugs and among these users, 39.5 million are considered to have a drug use disorder.
Today let’s pray for this young man, his mom, and all those on the Bible Bus whose homes know the pain and problems associated with substance abuse issues:
Father, You love us perfectly, even in our weakness. And in our children’s weakness, You love them perfectly, more than we ever could. Thank You for Your power to help us in our weakness, addictions, mistakes, and sickness. Thank You for Your promise to provide a way to escape temptation. We need You today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
