120 million people in Japan need to hear the Good News

September 30, 2024

Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. -2 Corinthians 4:4-6

The majority of Japanese people do not consider themselves religious, yet their cultural identity and the way they live their lives is deeply spiritual.

Welcome, travelers. Our journey through eastern Asia begins with a stop in Japan where most people identify with Buddhism (69%), but the average person mixes Buddhist, Shinto, Daoist, Confucian, Atheistic, and even Christian practices.

Today as we pray, let’s ask God for the opportunity to reach a staggering 120 million who still wait to hear the gospel and be saved from the darkness of their empty idols and beliefs.

Father, we are grateful for Your light in our lives. We ask You to shine in the hearts of those in Japan who remain in darkness, unaware of the love and salvation You freely offer. We pray You move mightily among them, sending out Your Word so they hear of Your Son, Jesus. We ask Your Holy Spirit to soften hearts and open their minds to the truth. We pray Your name becomes famous in the current generation and in those to come. In the precious name of Jesus, amen.

Join us tomorrow as we continue to praise and pray our way through eastern Asia.
