Where can you go when you've completely blown it?

… Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm. –Joel 2:13
Where can you go when you’ve blown it? What can you do when you need rest, strength, or help? Today on THRU the BIBLE, Dr. J. Vernon McGee took us to Hebrews 4, where we learned that if we know the Lord Jesus as our Savior, we have an advocate to defend us, a high priest to intercede for us, and a tender Shepherd to care for and provide for us. That’s what Gilbert in Burundi is praising God for. Here’s his story:
“The lessons found in the Bible through this program are surely interesting. In the past, I indulged in excessive wine consumption, leading me to commit adultery. Additionally, I frequently skipped work, which left me feeling remorseful. However, upon reflection and listening to the teachings, I repented and found strength in God. I am now liberated from such sins and dedicated to a productive life. I am grateful for this transformation. May God continue to bless you.”
What a wonderful reminder that no matter how far we fall, God’s grace is always there to lift us up. Let’s thank God for that in our lives, too:
Lord, thank You that you are slow to anger and offer grace and mercy to all of us who come to You in repentance. We lift up Gilbert and others like him in Burundi who are experiencing the transforming power of Your Word. Continue to strengthen them in their journey and guide them as they walk in Your light. We also pray for those who are still seeking salvation. Remove the obstacles in their paths and draw them to You, so that they may know the peace that comes from confessing their sins and accepting Jesus as their Savior. In His name, amen.
